Biography
Jehane Noujaim is an award-winning filmmaker and an ACADEMY AWARD-nominated director. In 2014, Noujaim directed and produced The Square, which won numerous awards including the DIRECTORS GUILD AWARD and the INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY AWARD, and was the first film to win the AUDIENCE AWARD at both the Sundance and Toronto film festivals. Noujaim has produced and directed other
award-winning films such as Rafea: Solar Mama (2013), Control Room (2004), and Startup.com (2001). Noujaim’s work has been exhibited at international festivals such as Sundance, Toronto, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Dubai, and has been shown in theaters globally. She has dedicated her career to directing and producing films between the US and the Middle East. Noujaim has been one of the few filmmakers to have been nominated three times by her peers (the DIRECTORS GUILD OF AMERICA) for the highest award for directing. Noujaim currently lives between Cairo and New York.
